It's Oscar time already? I preferred it in March, gave me time to watch the movies. Honestly, I haven't even seen any of the nominated movies. (Not to say I won't eventually when Netflix mails them to me) I haven't seen an Oscar's ceremony where I've seen all the nominated movies since the year "L.A. Confidential" was nominated. Long ass time ago, right? But I watch every year for various reasons. Curiosity of course. To see who's there, who wins (love the underdog!) and to hear the opening monologue/music routine. This year I was planning on watching it anyway, but the reason I set my DVR 2-1/2 hour early to record 2 red carpet coverages is because I figured they couldn't entirely ignore the movie "Twilight" and I hoped they'd have Rob Pattinson present. Though he did not present an award, he did introduce a clip for 2008's Romance scenes of which, Twilight was featured 3 times in said clip. Not shabby. Also, I never thought I'd ever be thankful for Mickey Rourke, but I am. Thank he was nominated and thankful where he sat! There was only one upset this year. Best Actor. Everyone assumed Rourke would walk away with it being he took all the pre-Oscar awards home. I'm not a fan of Sean Penn, but I have to admit I was most impressed with his speech tonight. All in all, it was an O.K. show. I like the humorous bits the most and that they had 5 former winners present for the actor/actress awards. Queen Latifah was also elegant and sang beautifully in the Memoriam.
